Academy Award for The Apartment; thirty-year writing partnership with Billy Wilder. Isadore Diamond (CC 1941) was a Columbia mathematics major who won the Interscholastic Algebra League title four times (hence "I. A. L.") and then spent thirty years writing comedies with Billy Wilder. The Apartment alone is enough; Some Like It Hot is more than enough. He won one Oscar, was nominated for several more, and is the kind of Philolexian whose name is in the credits of films an American can quote without having seen.
