Philo Centennial. A meeting of the Philolexian Centennial Celebration Committee was held Tuesday evening in the Library. Notes were read from the members of the Advisory Committee, and the date for holding the meeting was decided ;>n. Following the custom sanctioned by the constitution of the society adopted in 1820, the 17th of May was chosen. The celebration will consist of a reunion meeting and a dinner. The committee followed the advice of Mr. John B. Pine and President Butler in selecting Mr. William Dudley Foulke, Civil Service Commissioner at Washington, is the orator at the meeting. Mr. Pine will be asked to preside at this meeting, while Dean Van Amringe will be urged to act as toastmaster it the dinner. A history of the society is being written by E. A. PHILO. CENTENNIAL To Be Held To-morrow Afternoon on the Campus—Program of Exercises. Tormorrow the Philolexian Society will hold its Centennial. A large number of the Alumni has signified there intention and the affair will mark an era in the life of the society. The program is as follows: At 3.30, exercises will be held at which George L. Rives, the Corporation Counsel will preside. Mr. Rives will be introduced by G. H. Butler, 1903, President-elect of the Society. The orator of the occasion, William D. Foulk, Civil Service Commissioner at Washington, will also be introduced by the Presi-dent-elect. The oration will be followed by a short address by President Nicholas Murray Butler, who will hand over the package which has been in the custody of the University since it was left fifty years ago. About College HTHE Chess Club held its last meeting for the season on Wednesday evening, May ioth. THE coming freshman class promises to be very large in numbers. THE Eighty-four Columbiad board have chosen Mr. H. V. A. Anderson Chairman, and Mr. Perry Secretary and Treasurer. THE excellent portrait of Professor Nairne which we give on page 109 is taken from a photograph by Pach Bros., the college photographers. It is reproduced, by kind permission, from The Daily Graphic. THE race which our 'Varsity eight won at Newark on Decoration Day was one of the prettiest that they have ever rowed. The Metropolitans finished second, by half a length. Several of the crack Harlem and Passaic eights were in the field. THE cricket match with the University of Pennsylvania takes place at Philadelphia on Monday, June 12th, at 10:30 A. M.
