At the meeting of Philolexian Literary Society held last night in Earl Hail, the committee which is to have charge or the 1913 Play was elected. It consists of L. G. Egbert 'l4, Chairman; \. |F. PHILO WILL DEBATE PHILOMATHEAN AGAIN The New Columbia Spirit and Proposed Revival of Monthly Subjects of Discussion Spirited discussion was the keynote running through the business and literary program of the Philolexian meeting last night. The first business to which the society gave its attention was the annual debate with the Philomathean Society of Pennsylvania. Philomathean had proposed the question of increased armament which the Varsity debating team successfully argued in the triangular debate with Penn and Cornell a few weeks ago. As the visiting team customarily takes the negative side of the question, this gives the Columbia society the side which won in all three debates of the Varsity meet. GRADUATING CLASS HAS GOOD LEADERS Permanent Officers of Nineteen Fifteen Have Been Prominent in Campus Activities When the Class of 1915 selected Walter William Dwyer as their permanent president, they selected one of Columbia's most popular men, and one that has done more for Columbia's activities during the past year than any other single student. "Walt" as he is called around the Campus, started his career, as president of 1915, when the class was in its Sophomore year. In his Junior year, Dwyer starred on the championship basketball team, and organized the now famous University Band. He was appointed cheer leader, elected to the cabinet of the C. U. C. A., serving afterwards as the chairman of the Social Service Committee of that organization. He was chairman of the Mitchel Parade committee, and was on the Junior Prom committee. Several Philo alumni braved the lateness of the hour and attended the banquet. It was 10:15 P.
