About College IGHTY-NINE has $432 in its treasury. THE University of Pennsylvania have entered an eight in the Harlem regatta. C. M. COMSTOCK and E. C. Villaverde are both candidates for coxswain. THE time has again arrived when the grass on the campus (?) is kept green by the college papers. MR. VALENTINE G. HALL, 'BB, a short time ago won the tournament for the championship of the Seventh Regiment. THE "Van Cott " will follow the 'VarsityAtalanta Race and Class Regatta on May Bth. Tickets seventy-five cents. THE election of class delegates to the Boat Club was postponed till Friday, May 7th, when a full attendance is desired. A PETITION that Greek and Latin should be made elective in the Junior year has been signed by most of the Sophomores and Freshmen. About College ' I 'HE Columbiad is out. Don't fail to buy one. LAST Monday the 'B6 'Varsity Crew had their pictures taken at Pach's. MR. L. WARREN, 'BB, has left college for the present term, and is now traveling in Europe. BISHOP HENRY C. POTTER has been elected a trustee to fill the vacancy caused by the death of his father, the late Bishop Horatio Potter. THE Glee Club will be accompanied on its tours by Messrs. Mapes and Plum, whose banjo playing is a great addition to the other qualities of the club. SEVERAL very favorable communications, suggesting Columbia as a fourth member to the proposed Intercollegiate Baseball League have appeared lately in the Yale News. WE hear that E. D. Lange, the celebrated walker, is in the Medical School, and that the Athletic Association will try to induce him to walk for us this spring. The Joint Debate. Monday evening, April 18th, notwithstanding the bad weather, a large audience was present in the Law School at the joint debate of the Philolexian, the Peithologian, and the Barnard Societies. Mr. Elmer G. Sammis of the Barnard presided, and in his opening address of welcome stated the rules governing the speakers and the points upon which the judges were to decide. He then announced the subject of debate : "Resolved , That the country owes more to Alexander Hamilton than to Thomas Jefferson." Mr. P. F. Hall, 'BB, of the Barnard, opened the debate for the affirmative. He gave a sketch of Hamilton's career, and an outline of the principal results of the life of Jefferson, closing with a comparison of the relative merits of the two. About College HP HE attendance at the last two chapel addresses was not as large as it should have been. THE Seventh Annual Dinner of the Barnard Literary Association will be held on Friday, April nth. DURING a recitation last week, one of our professors used the adjective " great " fifty-one times, in the course of a forty-five minute lecture. No more smoking or free lunch in the northend cloak-room for some time to come. They have formidably boarded out the indulgers in those luxuries for the sake of a fossil collection of " rocks." AT a meeting of the Amateur Photographic Society, held last week, it was decided to give an exhibition at the earliest possible date. Officers were elected as follows : President, J. T.
