JUNIORS BEST ORATORS Curtis Medals Awarded to D. R. Fox and G. W. A. Scott — Philo Conducts Affair Successfully For effective presentation and convincing argument in oratory the gold Curtis Medal was awarded last night to Dixon Ryan Fox 'n. The silver medal ' was won by George W. A. Scott 'il, the judges giving it to him for eloquence and earnest pleading, while special commendation was won by Geddes Smith 'lO, for his scholarly argument and literary style. The contest was held in the Earl Hall auditorium. Speakers were previously selected from a large number at a special trial contest. 1911 PERMANENT OFFICERS Leaders of the Class and Their Records —Ought to do Much For University as Alumni On Monday, May i, the class of 1911 held its last regular meeting as undergraduates. A constitution was adopted and permanent class officers were elected to serve for five years. Alfred John Grimm, the president, is Presentation Orator today. He has played on his class football team the past three years, elected captain for last fall. He was chairman of his Soph Dinner Committee, of his Senior Dinner Committee, President of the C. U. C. A., sang on the Glee Club two years and in the Varsity Show cast one. He debated on a Varsity debating team in his Sophomore year and an Intercollegiate Intersociety team his Junior year, for all of which he was made a charter member of the Columbia Chapter of Delta Sigma Rho.
