LITERARY SOCIETY ELECTS OFFICERS Philolexian Plans Reunion Banquet on May 12—Alumni Invited On the occasion of the election of the new members Wednesday night in Philosophy Hall, Philolexian Literary Society elected officers for the next semester. These were as follows: President, Preston Hammond '22; Vice-President, Theodore Hodnett '23; Secretary, Charles McMorris Purdy '23; Corresponding Secretary, Donald Harbaugh '22 and Treasurer, Julian Olney '22. Announcement has been made of a formal banquet to be given in the Stockton Tea Rooms on the evening of May 12. It will mark, primarily, the incoming of the new members. Letters have been sent to over three hundred 1 graduate members of the society. Alumni from as far back as the class of '72 have written in promising to attend. PHILO CALLS FOR '25 MEN Freshmen Are Asked to Report in Earl Hall This Afternoon. Philolexian Literary Society will elect members from the Freshman class at its last regular meeting of the year tomorrow at 8 o'clock in 306 Philosophy. Ten Philolexian men are graduating this semester, and an unusually large Freshman delegation is hoped for by the officers of the society. Applications for membership must be made to F. P. CORT ELECTED HEAD OF LITERARY SOCIETY Jester Editor is Chosen President of Philolexian for Coming Semester. David Cort '24, editor-in-chief of Jester, was elected president of the Philolexian Society at the regular weekly meeting of the literary organization last evening. Cort has been a prominent member of Philo for the past three years and has taken an active part in the annual Shakesperian productions. Other officers elected for the present semester are: Elliot Bell '24, re-elected to the vice-presidency, Charles W. FILM FLICKERS MARY PICKFORD IN "THE LOVE LIGHT" AT THE CAPITOL It is the sweet and lovable Mary Pickford herself that one welcomes back to the screen at the Capitol Theatre this week in her newest production "The Love Light". "The Love Light" is the story of a little Italian girl in a fishing village among the cliffs bordering on the Mediterranean in Northern Italy. She presides over the family of her orphaned brothers, and sees them both answer the call to war. PHILOLEXIAN INSTALLS OFFICERS AT BANQUET President Julian Olney '22 presided at the Annual Banquet of Philolexian Literary Society last Wednesday evening in the Stockton Tea Room. The occasion marked the 215 th anniversary of the society. Olney'introduced the officers of Philolexian for next year: President, Henry M. Robinson '23; Vice-President, C. McM. Purdy '23; Treasurer, Elbert Olney '23; Recording Secretary, Prank ■Stuerm '23; Corresponding Secretary, Ed-ward Rose '23. Professor G. C. D. Odell addressed the society on Philolexian's custom of presenting Elizabethan dramas and on some of Columbia's old traditions. The annual literary prizes were announced and awarded. Robert Turney '23 won both prose awards, having written the prize-winning story and essay.
