CORT ELECTED HEAD OF LITERARY SOCIETY Jester Editor is Chosen President of Philolexian for Coming Semester. David Cort '24, editor-in-chief of Jester, was elected president of the Philolexian Society at the regular weekly meeting of the literary organization last evening. Cort has been a prominent member of Philo for the past three years and has taken an active part in the annual Shakesperian productions. Other officers elected for the present semester are: Elliot Bell '24, re-elected to the vice-presidency, Charles W. Eliason '25, secretary, Charles McMorris Purdy '24, treasurer, and Lyle Winter '24, show production manager. ANNOUNCE ELECTION OF PHILO OFFICERS Elliott V. Bell '24 Is Chosen President - Club Dines at Columbia Club. At the Wednesday evening meeting of the Philolexian Society Elliott V. Bell '24 was elected president for the coming year, Richmond B. Williams '25 vice-president, Frederick Griswold Atkinson '26 secretary and Edmund P. Roberts '26 treasurer. Last night members of the club gathered at the annual Philo Alumni banquet in the Blue Room of the Columbia University Club. David Cort '24, the retiring president of the society, presided and acted as toastmaster Arnold Koch '2O and Henry M. Robinson '23, former presidents of the organization, described the life of the club during their time. THURSTON ELECTED PRESIDENT OF PHILO Succeeds Roberts - Barzun, Hopkins and Schnitzer Fill Other Posts. Philip B. Thurston '27 of New Y<)rk City was 1 elected president of Philolexian Society at a recent meeting of that organization, it wa§ announced yesterday. At the same time Jacques M. Barzun '27 was chosen vice-president, Cecil M. Hopkins '27 was named as secretary, and Robert C. Schnitzer '27 was elected treasurer. The Annual Banquet of the society will be held on Friday.
