CORT ELECTED HEAD OF LITERARY SOCIETY Jester Editor is Chosen President of Philolexian for Coming Semester. David Cort '24, editor-in-chief of Jester, was elected president of the Philolexian Society at the regular weekly meeting of the literary organization last evening. Cort has been a prominent member of Philo for the past three years and has taken an active part in the annual Shakesperian productions. BUTLER ANNOUNCES FELLOWSHIP AWARDS Dwight C. Miner Is Named Mitchell Fellow—Faculty Appointments Made. Announcement was made yesterday by President Butler of the awarding of the William Mitchell Fellowship for 1926-27 to Dwight C. Miner '26 of Yonkers, N. Y. The award is made annually by the University Trustees on the nomination of the Columbia Faculty to a graduate of the College who intends entering upon a course of advanced study in letters or science, and who is judged the most capable of attaining distiction in such course of study. The net income of 810,000 goes to the recipient of the fellowship. Miner, who graduates this year, and is valedictorian of his class, has been active throughout his four years at the College. Although there is some controversy, I believe Philolexian may be the oldest college literary society in the country, being founded in 1802.
