PHILOLEXIAN ASKS THIRTY TO SPEAK Three Minute Talks Will be Delivered by Candidates For Admission. At the meeting of the Philolexian Society last night it was decided to invite thirty men to speak for admission to the Society at the meeting next Wednesday evening. Twenty-three of these men are Freshmen and the other seven are members of the Sophomore and Junior classes. It was also decided to dispense with the requirement of essays to be submitted by the candidates. FRIESS WINNER OF PHILO PRIZE Victorious in Annual Contest With Oration on Eloquence and Progress. The Philolexian Society held its first 1918 meeting last night in the Trophy Room of Earl Hall. First on its program was the' initiation of the newly elected members of the society, over which Dr. Dixon R. Fox, a Philo man of 1901 presided. DEFER PHILO SPEECHES Candidates Will Speak Before the Society on May 8. President H. L. Friess of the Philolexian Literary Society has announced that the presentation speeches for the rinal election of the year have been postponed till Wednesday, May 8. Next Wednesday's meeting will be devoted to the discussion of prospective members.
