PHILOLEXIAN ELECTS ORR NEW PRESIDENT Chooses Smith, Shishkin, Stainback and Danish for Other Offices—Plans Banquet. William Erskine Orr '3O was elected president of the Philolexian Society at a business meeting held last Thursday in the Philo room. W. Bradford Smith '3O was chosen vice-president, and Boris Basil Shishkin '3O, secretary. Charles L. Stainback '3O will be treasurer and Joseph A. Danish '3l, librarian. Orr held the office of secretary in the society this semester and was on the production staff of "Fanny's First Play," the show produced by Philo last year. He Is a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Smith Made Vice-President. Smith, the new vice-president, is an associate on the editorial board of Varsity and is on the contributing staff of Morningside. PHILO WILL GATHER AT ANNUAL BANQUET Literary Society Will Hold Traditional Affair at Columbia Club. Philolexian will hold- its traditional banquet at the Columbia Club on Saturday, Feb. 1, it was announced by Boris, B. Shishkin '3O, secretary of the Columbia Literary Society. Prominent members of the Faculty and Alumni members of Philolexian will attend the affair which marks the 178 th anniversary of the society's existence. The new members who were elected to the society last November will be formally inducted at the banquet. Two of the newly elected men are editors of Columbia literary magazines. ODELL WILL ATTEND PHILOLEXIAN DINNER Dean Hawkes and Professor Coss Also Represent Faculty at Banquet. Many prominent members of the faculty will be present when the Philolexian banquet takes place at the Columbia Club on Saturday, Feb. 1, according to advance reports. Among those expected to be there are Dean Herbert E. Hawkes, Professor John J. Coss and George C. D. Odell, Brander Matthews Professor of Dramatic Literature. Philo Will Elect Officers For New Semester Tonight Philolexian will hold its semiannual elections this evening it was announced yesterday by William Erskine Orr '3O, president of the literary society. The meeting will start at 8 o'clock and will take place in Room 418, John Jay Hall. A short business discussion will follow the elections, Orr stated. . The present officers whose term expires tonight but who still are eligible for re-election are William Erskine Orr '3O, president: W. Philolexian unanimously re-elected its four major officers at its semiannual election which was held last Thursday night, it was announced yesterday by William Erskine Orr '3O, who was renamed president.
